So choose suitable time for departure of your families.

For a safety flight with Vietnam Airlines

Vietnam airlines is always proud to be a reliable carrier for domestic and international customers. However, beside our efforts, passengers should also pay attention to our regulations for a safe flight Vietnam.

Before take-off and landing, the cabin crew asks passengers to open their window shades, fasten their seat belt, fold up their tray tables, and put their seatbacks upright. The cabin lights are then dimmed.

Vietnam Airlines

All of these measures comply with the civil aviation safety regulations followed by all airlines. During take-off and landing, the plane is most vulnerable to accidents. Cabin lights are dimmed to allow passengers to see safety track exit lighting in case of an emergency evacuation. Dim lighting also makes it easier to spot fires. Window shades are opened to allow a view of possible threats, both inside and outside of the aircraft. Fastening seatbelt and putting seats and tray tables upright help to prevent passenger from being thrown from their seat or sustaining injuries in case of accidents.

Flight Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City - Tay Ninh - Cao Dai Temple - Cu Chi Tunnels 1 Day Tour

Flight Vietnam: The trip to Tay Ninh is combined with a visit to the Cao Dai Temple & Cu Chi Tunnels. At its height the tunnel system stretched over 250km. from Saigon to the Cambodian border and was three levels deep. The network included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens.

Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what underground life in the American war must have been like. The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there's even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range...

Tour program:

Our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel Ho Chi Minh City and depart for Tay Ninh. Upon arrival, we will join Cao Dai followers to arrange their daily afternoon mass for half an hour and get to know something about Caodaism. Have lunch at a local restaurant before visiting Cu Chi tunnels. Another name of Cu Chi is “ Steel land”. It’s where the army troops of the VC(Viet Cong) concealed themselves during the Vietnam war. The tunnel systems were created by local people over a period of years.

This huge construction was a habitation for villagers in the war time. With 3 levels of depth, it was never discovered by the US during the war despite its proximity to Saigon. Visit the fighting tunnel system with your local guide.

If you are that way inclined, you can purchase ammunition and fire a weapon of the war on the rifle range.

After visiting the tunnels, we drive back to Ho Chi Minh City. Tour ends at your hotel.

Intercity buses depart from and arrive at a variety of bus stations around HCMC (special flight Vietnam) and are well served by local bus services from Ben Thanh Market. HCMC is one place where the open-tour buses really come into their own, as they depart and arrive in the very convenient Pham Ngu Lao area. This saves an extra local bus journey or taxi fare. Most of the open-tour companies sell tickets to Mui Ne (around US$5), Nha Trang (around US$9) and Dalat (around US$8), plus there are night buses to Nha Trang (around US$12). Phuong Trang (Puta Travel; 3837 9879) is a major new player serving the above routes plus Can Tho (80,000d) in the Mekong Delta.

Mien Tay bus station (Ben Xe Mien Tay; 3825 5955) serves all areas south of HCMC, which basically means the Mekong Delta. This huge station is about 10km west of HCMC in An Lac, a part of Binh Chanh district (Huyen Binh Chanh). Buses and minibuses from Mien Tay serve most towns in the Mekong Delta, using air-conditioned express buses and premium minibuses.

Buses to locations north of HCMC leave from the immensely huge and busy Mien Dong bus station (Ben Xe Mien Dong; 3829 4056), in Binh Thanh district, about 5km from central HCMC on Hwy 13 (Quoc Lo 13; the continuation of Ð Xo Viet Nghe Tinh). The station is just under 2km north of the intersection of Ð Xo Viet Nghe Tinh and Ð Dien Bien Phu. Note that express buses depart from the east side, and local buses connect with the west side of the complex.

Buses to Tay Ninh, Cu Chi and points northwest of HCMC depart from the newer An Suong bus station (Ben Xe An Suong;), in District 12, way to the west of the centre. To get here, head all the way out on Ð Cach Mang Thang Tam and Ð Truong Chinh. The station is close to the flyover for Quoc Lo 1 (Hwy 1). Note that it’s not really worth using local buses to visit Tay Ninh and Cu Chi, as many of the smaller tunnel sites are off the main highways, making it a nightmare to navigate.
Car & motorbike

Inquire at almost any tourist cafe, travel agent or hotel to arrange car rental. Just remember that your rental will include a driver, as it’s illegal for foreigners to drive in Vietnam without a Vietnamese license. The agencies in the Pham Ngu Lao area generally offer the lowest prices. Also check with travel agencies, or check out newcomer Budget Car Rental (3930 1118; www.budget.com.vn) which offers new cars with English-speaking drivers at reasonable rates.

Motorbikes are available in the Pham Ngu Lao area for around US$10 per day if you will be taking the bike out of town, although this is one city where it helps to have experience. Check the quality of the helmet provided as it may be worth investing in a better one for a long trip.
Train

Trains from Saigon train station (Ga Sai Gon; 3823 0105; 1 Ð Nguyen Thong, District 3; ticket office 7.15-11am & 1-3pm) serve coastal cities to the north of HCMC.

Purchase tickets from Saigon Railways Tourist Services (3836 7640; fax 3837 5224; 275C Ð Pham Ngu Lao; 7.30-11.30am & 1-4.30pm) to avoid any commission, or from most travel agents for a small fee

Halong Bay cruises with cheap Vietnam airfare from VNA

It is said that the perfect way to discover and enjoy the world natural wonder is to jump onto a traditional junk sailing to the far-most corners where there are hidden lagoons, unexploited beaches and exotic grottoes that can be found nowhere else in the world. Reality is a bit different. Please be aware that Ha Long Bay is near the major port of Haiphong and therefore suffers from severe water pollution. It is not uncommon to see piles of rubbish floating in the water and the quality of the water can be dubious for swimming.

Added there are no naturally occurring sand beaches where the tours tend to go, you will be told the water is safe for swimming regardless of the fact that ships dump raw human waste into the water and diesel fuel is everywhere. Pregnant women, children or people with weak immune systems should stay out of the water! Don't let this get you down, as the views and the food on board are reasons alone to venture out.

There are two popular kinds of cruise itineraries in Halong Bay, day cruise and overnight cruise. Day cruises are created for travelers who just have enough time to soak up the atmosphere and take short glimpse over the must-sees of Halong Bay. Though they are quite short, they include visits to tourist attractions and well-cooked seafood dinner, swimming in the emerald water, kayaking to lagoons of the bay. Overnight cruises which are referred to both one night cruises and two night cruise are designed for travelers who have more time. A general One night Halong Bay Cruise includes activities such as visits to cave, Islands, Kayaking, funny team building games on beaches, sunset watching with a cocktail party, and night actitvities on board while a two night cruise consists of all the activities of one night cruise and an extra day of further visits the far, untouched corner of the bay on smaller boat with a beach barbecue. Both one night cruise and two night cruise include everything but drinks.

How to Go Direct to Ha Long Bay Without Going Through a Middleman

Setting out to do an independent tour of Ha Long Bay without hiring one of the tour agencies in Hanoi? Sure, it can be done. And yes, theoretically it's cheaper, but that's assuming Murphy's Law doesn't show up to screw over your plans.
(you can find out cheap Vietnam airfare in here)
As with many budget options, the reality may be far more expensive: as an independent traveler, you're more at risk of being eaten alive by one of the con artists that are sadly too common in the Vietnam travel industry. (Read this article: Top 10 Signs of a Possible Travel Scam.) You might think you're getting a good deal at the Bai Chay wharf, and then you find that your "deluxe tourist boat" is a floating death tub.
cheap vietnam airfare with vna

So allow us to present this information with not a few caveats. Your guide still recommends you buy a package tour to enjoy the sights of Ha Long Bay. You should exercise all caution when fixing a deal with one of the touts at the wharf. Good luck.

Bus from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay

You can catch a ride to Ha Long Bay, either from one of the tourist open buses booked by tour agencies around Hoan Kiem Lake (these cost $8 each way), or by riding at a Hanoi bus station to Bai Chay.
You can leave from one of two bus stations: Luong Yen Station (21°0'39.69"N, 105°51'49.76"E; Google Maps - offsite) or Gia Lam Station (21°2'53.76"N, 105°52'42.54"E;Google Maps - offsite). Luong Yen is the closest bus station to the city center. Gia Lam lies across from the Red River, and cannot be reached by cyclo from the city center - ride a taxi instead.
If you're taking a bus, do not purchase tickets from agents or middlemen - go directly to the station's ticket booth for your ticket. Tickets to Bai Chay cost about $2.50, or VND 50,000 each way.
The bus will pass by Bai Chay Tourist Wharf (20°56'50.83"N, 107°1'45.16"E; Google Maps - offsite) where these tourist boats dock.

Buying a Ticket

At the ticket office (to the right of the entrance), review the ticket table and pay up for the tour you wish to take. Expect to pay about VND 70,000 for a four-hour excursion ticket including a detour at a cave in the bay, although prices will vary depending on the demand.
The ticketing structure is designed to work with group bookings; while individuals can buy cheap Vietnam airfare at the office, they may be grouped with other parties until they can fill up a tour boat. Individuals or small groups in a hurry can negotiate to hire a whole boat at the ticket office, or with a boat captain. David at Malaysia-Asia.my successfully negotiated to hire a boat for his group of friends for VND 500,000.
Tickets for the day cruise include at least one of these stopovers:
  • Dau Go Island - Thien Cung Grotto and/or Dau Go Cave
  • Sung Sot Cave
The total ticket price will depend on the following factors -
  • Type of boat: boats are rated from standard (0-star) to three-star. Standard boats can accommodate less than 35 people. Starred boats accommodate anywhere from 36 to 50 passengers.
  • Length of trip: you (or your group) can choose an itinerary that lasts from between four to ten hours.
Ha Long Bay is part of the "Banana Pancake Trail" blazed by long-term travelers in Asia; find out more about the Banana Pancake Trail.

The Return Trip to Hanoi

To ride from Ha Long to Hanoi, go to the Bai Chay Bus Station (20°58'20.7656"N, 107°0'49.5313"E; Google Maps - offsite) to secure your ride back to the capital.
You don't have to leave immmediately; if you want to spend the night in Ha Long, you can check into one of these Hotels in Ha Long Bay to have more time exploring the city before catching a ride back to Hanoi.

See the sights of Hanoi

Visiting Hanoi, with its warmth of climate and smiling people, is an experience you will remember for ever.. ask anyone who has been there and see their vibrant response, its amazing! Hanoi is a diverse mix of cultural influences which constantly jostle for your attention. Firstly it's ancient, with over 1000 years of history on this spot as it sits alongside the famous Red River flowing down from China to empty into the South China Sea. Then its ultra modern and booming high tech industrial estates where much of the world's software is crafted by gifted technicians. Between these two extremes is one the world's great cities which is experiencing one of this century great economic booms fuelled by 89 million Vietnamese people and its proximity to the vast markets of modern China.

The Vietnamese are great planners, unfortunately the growth of Hanoi has out-stripped their ability to plan and implement hence to the first time visitor it appears chaotic.

Flights to Hanoi arrive at the Noi Bai International Airport which is about 25 miles north of Hanoi city centre and is the only international airport serving the city and the northern part of Vietnam. However soon Hanoi will be served by a totally new major international airport, Hanoi International Airport, costing over $8 billion which will start construction in 2011.This is a massive infrastructure project involving seven years of building work over three phases and including a hospital, two heli-ports, schools, apartments and hotels as well as building the largest and the most modern airport anywhere in Asia. The Vietnamese certainly don't lack ambition ! Phase one alone is planned to accommodate 480 flights a day and 35 million passengers a year with growth aimed at achieving 850 flights daily and 62 million passengers annually by 2025 and then to 1,096 flights daily and 80 million passengers annually by 2035.

From the current Hanoi Noi Bai airport to the city centre is along two highways, both of which deliver the arriving passenger in the centre city in around 45 minutes, depending upon traffic conditions. The journey itself is a rewarding experience with your bus or taxi sharing the main highways with cars of all shapes, motor scooters by the hundred and a separate - but frequently shared lane for often multi-peopled bicycles.
